They Wrote Me Back: My First Brand Response from Lidl
OMG! Lidl responded!
It finally happened.
I sent out a handwritten letter to a brand…and they wrote me back!
Not just any response—but a thoughtful, engaging, and genuinely appreciative one.
This time, the brand was Lidl.
And I’m not even going to lie…
I was excited.
The Letter That Started It
If you’ve been following along, you know that Snail Mail Reviews is built on one simple idea:
Slow down. Be intentional. Say something that actually matters.
So I sat down, wrote my letter to Lidl, and shared my experience as a customer—what I loved, what stood out, and how their products have supported my family.
Then I mailed it.
No expectations. Just intention.
The Waiting Game
After sending the letter, I did what this process requires…
I waited.
And if I’m being honest, there’s something about that waiting period that feels different. It’s not rushed. It’s not transactional. It gives space for something real to happen.
Still, a part of me wondered:
Would they respond?
The Response
Then one day…
I opened my email and saw it.
A response from Lidl.
And not just a quick “thank you”—but a message that felt personal, thoughtful, and fully engaged with everything I shared.
Here’s a piece that stood out to me:
“Consider us officially, and happily, snailed! It’s not every day we get a letter that traveled via snail mail to reach us, and it definitely brightened the day here at the office.”
That right there?
That’s exactly why I started this.
What This Response Meant to Me
This wasn’t just about getting a reply.
It was about being heard.
Lidl acknowledged:
my experience as a customer
the role their products play in my household
and the intentionality behind taking the time to write
They even referenced specific things I mentioned—like their chips (which, yes, are still A-1) and the resources on their website.
That level of attention doesn’t go unnoticed.
And Then… the Bonus
Not only did they respond…
They added a $10 coupon to my account.
Now listen—I didn’t write the letter expecting anything in return.
But that gesture?
It showed appreciation.
And more importantly, it showed that they value their customers beyond the purchase.
From a Brand Perspective
From a customer experience standpoint, this is what stands out:
They responded with personality
They acknowledged specific feedback
They created a moment that felt human
This is what brands often miss.
It’s not just about responding.
It’s about how you respond.
My Response Back
Of course, I had to write back.
Because that’s part of the experience too.
I let them know how much their response meant to me, how their products have supported my family, and how excited I was to continue exploring what they offer.
Because when a brand meets you with that level of intention…
You meet them right back.
So… Was It Worth the Stamp?
Without a doubt:
Yes.
Not because of the coupon.
Not because of the response alone.
But because it proved that intentional communication still works.
That even in a fast-paced, digital world…
Taking the time to say something meaningful can still be received the way it was intended.
What This Means for Snail Mail Reviews
This moment right here?
This is confirmation.
Snail Mail Reviews isn’t just an idea—it’s a real way to create connections between brands and customers.
And this is just the beginning.
What’s Next
More letters.
More reviews.
More brands.
And now we know…
Some of them are definitely listening.
If you’ve been following this journey, thank you.
And if you’re new here…
Welcome.
Because this is what happens when you slow down, speak with intention, and make it count.
You’ve officially been snailed.
